DUKE

DUKE is a handsome regal-looking 10 month old male German Shepherd/Pharaoh Hound mix.
He weighs about 50lbs, has a short brindle-colored coat, gorgeous eyes, and long legs that run gracefully like a colt.

DUKE was a found as a stray with his best friend BABY, probably after being abandoned, and they both ended up at an overcrowded rural shelter.
Due to lack of space they were scheduled to be euthanized, but our rescue network was able to get them into emergency boarding to save their lives.
However, this was just a short term situation and now Duke urgently needs a foster home (or adopter).

Duke is a bit timid right now and would do best in a home with people experienced in helping shy dogs, and also possibly with a dog pal to help show Duke the ropes and build his confidence. He is a fast learner and very attentive, especially when treats are involved which he takes with a gentle mouth!
He has already learned a few commands and how to use a doggie door. He is a playful happy boy that likes his toys and looks so cute when he carries them around in his mouth. He loves human companionship and is drawn to people with soft voices.

Duke is just waiting for a loving home with people that can help him decompress from his shelter experience and overcome his timidness, and work on his training.
He needs a family to provide him a real home for his true personality to come shining through. In return he will be a great friend and true companion!

If you can open your heart and home to FOSTER OR ADOPT Duke, please contact us ASAP.
(Any amount of time fostering Duke would be great, and if for any reason things don’t work, we can take him back within 24hrs if needed.)

Note: For any potential foster/adopter we do have an application process and do a home check, to ensure it is a suitable match for everyone.

Thank you for considering to foster/adopt Duke and help us save this great shelter dog!

CASSIE is a Sweet Boxer Mix (would love your foster/trainer home…)

Just the facts:
age: 1
breed: boxer/staffie
lbs: 50
fur: one inch
house trained: yes
obedience trained: not a chance, she is a hill-billy!
good with humans?: yes
good with kids?: yes but kids should be older
dogs with other dogs?: yes but intense in her approach
good with cats?: not tested but unlikely unless you train

This ‘Little Miss Piggy’ is one exuberantly happy girl who cannot wait to finally start her new lease on life! Rescued just in time at age 8 mos from a small rural shelter, she has not been exposed to much other than stray and shelter life, and in her current boarding situation she plays well with all other dogs, and happily snores in her crate at night… ‘piggy -like’!

At the moment, anything excites Cassie while leashwalking, so an adopter would need to be dogsavvy to redirect her from wanting to eagerly meet anybody and any dog that walks by. She is very food oriented, so for the experienced dogperson this redirecting should take a matter of weeks, especially if Cassie can go to companion dog training classes with you and a breed-savvy trainer. Cassie is a motivated girl!

Cassie has the Boxer underbite and jowels, and is all white except for a tan spot on the butt, and then all the pink on the Very Cute Face.

If you are interested in fostering or adopting this lovable young girl, please contact us ASAP.

Note: For interested adopters and fosters we do follow an application process and do screening to find the most suitable home to match each dog.
Also, dogs are shown by appointment.

Curran is a male yellow lab mixed with something fluffier and with a bulkier head! Curran’s fur is quite beautiful and thick! He knows ‘sit’ and walks well on leash. He gets a little excited and jumpy when he gets human attention, but once he figures out what is expected of him, he really wants to obey!

Curran is a great hanger-outer if you can take your dog to your workplace, or if you have a nice porch/yard for him to have access to when you are home. He is not a demanding dog, and he is all wags when it is walk/hike time; it is such a pleasure to see him so happy.

Curran is socialized with other dogs. We cannot test with cats but we can try and are hopeful.

Curran crates very well and has a calm demeanor. He will make a great housedog and hiking/walking buddy and you will never be lonely with a good, solid friend like Curran!

Note: We do require an application process and home check to make sure all dogs are matched to a suitable safe home that fits them best.

Thank you for considering to help us save a wonderful shelter dog!!

Felix (gray and white) and Gigi (tawny and white) are two sweet dogs that are a unique mix of Shepherd (possibly Malamute) and Boxer. We believe Gigi and Felix are approximately 2 – 4 years old, although Felix may be Gigi’s son and younger than 2. They are good with kids and other dogs although they have not been socialized with small dogs, and we are not sure about cats. They are very loving to each other and a bonded pair, so ideally we would like them to find a home together. They could also be comfortable separate, especially if they have a new dog-pal in the household.
Sadly Gigi and Felix were left at an overcrowded shelter by their original owner when she was going to have a baby and decided she would no longer have time for them. She had them both as puppies and they have lived their whole lives together. (We’re not sure how these two are related – either mother/son or litter mates.) Suddenly they found themselves in the shelter, separated from each other in an unknown place, away from the only home they had ever known.
Due to lack of space, these dogs were to be euthanized and would have died alone, but a group of rescuers realized we could not let that happen!
Urgently we pulled together to save this pair and have them reunited. They were so excited to see each other again, they hugged and kissed each other for hours. We know we might have to once again separate them in order to find them their new forever homes, but we are holding out hope that someone sees how bonded they are and will be willing to adopt them together.
They are spayed and neutered, current on vaccinations, and micro-chipped. We believe a well trained dog is a happy dog. Therefore, an intro training session will be required to ensure Gigi and Felix remain well balanced and happy.
Please note that we do not place any dog on a first come, first served basis, but rather to the home that is best suited for that particular dog and breed. An application, home check, adoption contract and fee are required for all adoptions and dogs are seen by appointment only.

This dog is a courtesy listing for a Southern California rescue.

JOLIE!!!!
age: almost 1!
breed: staffie/small lab mix
fur: short
lbs: 45 max

house trained: YES
basic obedience: yes
good with people?: yes
good with kids?: yes
good with dogs?: yes. She’s been well-socialized from puppyhood, tho assertive approach
good with cats?: not tested, but unlikely unless well-trained

Our Jolie is a pretty little girl who grew up well-socialized with all dogs in boarding and has spent time rough-housing like the best of them with a huge mastiff boy in foster. If you like the bully breed energy, but cannot handle the normal bully size/strength, this is your girl. Her breed mix is making her smaller than average, while not losing the compact, sturdy build.

Her unusually big, pointy ears, or sometimes only one of them:) go straight up when she is on alert. She has not been leash-walked in ‘normal’ life too much yet, so pretty much everything that moves gets her alerted. Being an eager-pleaser, she will redirect well by the dog-savvy adopter willing to take the time to treat-train.

Of course Jolie looooves to cuddle and is eager to learn from you what is expected of her so she can be that loyal companion to you, and playmate for your compatible boy-dog.
